MUSEUM NEWS
Purton Museum 2023 exhibition closed at the end of October. The volunteers gathered a wonderful array of posters, photographs and documents that showcased the variety of social events, clubs, and activities that Purton has boasted over many years.
Who remembers the 1990 Purton Horse and Dog Show and Gymkhana when Princess Diana and Princes William and Harry visited? Or the wonderful Festival of Village Life in 1988?
Purton’s Knitting Group and Walking Group also displayed what they have to offer and, in the year of King Charles III’s Coronation, we reflected on how the village celebrated the coronations of King George VI in 1937 and Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

Purton Museum is located on the first floor of The Institute building and is accessible via stairs. Unfortunately there is no lift. However, if you wish to view any of the artefacts, please contact the archivist to arrange an appointment.
